THE DEAD-STOCK DROP 6.0

2ND OCTOBER 2024. 12 PM (GMT)

WHERE WE USE DEADSTOCK FABRICS TO CREATE UNIQUE, VERY SMALL-BATCH, THAT DROP (& OFTEN SELL-OUT) IN ONE DAY.

THE DEADSTOCK DROP IS BACK

It's been far too long since our last dead-stock drop as Squish has been busy trying to turn Squish from a toddler to a child. We now have time to do our favourite event of the year. The event that made us... THE DEADSTOCK DROP. Where we turn "Scraps into staples" and present them to our community to have their very own unique piece.

ABOUT THIS DROP

This particular deadstock drop is truly special, with a story that connects to the sea. It's a bittersweet tale—one that happened by chance and brought us immense joy. Our founder, on a spontaneous and much-needed camping trip, stumbled upon a beach and noticed a sign that read, "Home & Garden Sale, come in."

Unfortunately, it was a Sunday, so the homeowners weren't inviting guests that day. However, our dear friend Rachel insisted, saying, "Nooo, we must!" She called the owners' mobile, and to our delight, they agreed to let us in.

Worthing Lyn from the Coast

We walked through a stunning garden that reminded us of Derek Jarman (Well his famous garden)

P.S that is our friend BENJI in the #GARDEN.

As we entered the house, our founder was astonished to find a room filled with ribbons, fabrics, trims, bows, and handmade flowers—a true Good Squish dream.

She had to pinch herself. As we explored, we learned that the sale was taking place because, tragically, the house was at risk of being claimed by the sea. We were incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to see and purchase these remarkable fabrics. These weren't just ordinary fabrics—they were exquisite, dating as far back as the 1800s.

WE sat with the wonderful Lyn, who shared her story, from creating pieces for some very famous people (FORGOT ALL THE NAMES) to travelling across France in search of the finest lace.

TO CUT THE STORY SHORT, some of the pieces we create using these fabrics will be extremely rare and wonderful and you will quite literally be one of the only people wearing them on your heads. We hope you love them as much as we enjoyed making them. Because of you, we can continue travelling the #world and turning scraps into staples.

WHY DEADSTOCK IS IMPORTANT

At GOOD SQUISH, we believe that using Deadstock fabrics is crucial for sustainable fashion.

All brands have surplus fabrics [deadstock] that almost all fashion brands just send to landfills. By sourcing deadstock and using it where possible, we help REDUCE WASTE and lower the ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT of textile production.

Supporting Good Squish, is supporting a commitment to sustainability, and conscious consumerism. Embrace the beauty of deadstock fabrics and join us in making a positive impact on the planet, one SQUISH at a time.
